A Behavioral Take on Human and Organizational Performance (HOP)
HOP has frequently been promoted as anti-BBS, which is simply untrue. HOP’s basic tenets are very much aligned with a behavioral approach. Acknowledging that people make errors, pointing out that blame is counterproductive, insisting that behavior be understood in context, and emphasizing the importance of learning from those doing the work are ideas that are part of any behavioral approach. Furthermore, these principles require behavior change, most notably on the part of leaders, thus understanding behavior scientifically is essential to turn principles into improvement. This talk will demonstrate the congruence between behavioral safety and HOP and provide concrete tips for turning the HOP philosophy into lasting change.
